I was born in a small town in the high mountains of Antioquia, Colombia, where I grew up in deep connection with nature. At the age of 20, after recovering from a severe health crises, I left my native country to see the world. In 1978 I arrived in Mexico City and later on in Tepoztlan, where I have found my home. During the following years I became interested in healing and meditation. My deep connection to the land and to people here led me to soon become a Mexican citizen.

A similar health crisis ensued years later. At that time I had been gathering for some time around the fire to listen to the guidance of Grandfather Fire, or Tatewarí (in the Huichol language). He revealed that my health issue was a soul calling to follow the path of a Huichol shaman, or Mara'akame.

I embarked for years on a remarkable training with the guidance and support of Grandfather Fire and elders in the Huichol healing tradition. I was immersed in a living tradition that has been transmitted for millennia and thus learnt to listen to the wisdom of heart, to connect to sacred sites that provide healing, to appreciate and nurture community. My vision and way of life shifted in a deep and significant way.

I was initiated as a Mara'akame in 2007. Since that time, I have been dedicated to working with patients and community groups and to continuous training under Don David Wiley. Under his guidance, I was also trained and initiated as a Firekeeper, a life long commitment to serve my local community as a conduit to facilitate the re-discovery of Fire as a support and guide for our human existence. This work has enriched and nourished my healing practice in the service for others.

I feel grateful and blessed for having found my path in this lifetime and my aspiration is to be of help at a time of such great spiritual need.

BIOGRAFIA

Nací en un pequeño pueblo en las altas montañas de Antioquia, Colombia, donde me crié muy cerca de la naturaleza. A la edad de 20 años, después de recuperarme de una profunda crisis de salud, dejé mi país natal para salir al mundo. En 1978 llegué a la Ciudad de México y poco después a Tepoztlán, en donde encontré mi hogar. Durante los siguientes años me interesé en la sanación y la meditación. Mi profunda conexión con esta tierra y sus habitantes me llevó en pocos años a adquirir la nacionalidad mexicana.

Unos años después tuve una crisis de salud semejante a la anterior. Para entonces ya había estado reuniéndome alrededor del fuego para escuchar la guía del Abuelo Fuego o Tatewarí (en la lengua Wixárika). Él me reveló que mi problema de salud era un llamado espiritual a seguir el camino como chamán (o Mara'akame) en la tradición huichola.

Entré entonces en un entrenamiento notable con la guía del Abuelo Fuego y de mayores en la tradición de sanación huichola. Me sumergí así en esa tradición viva que ha sido transmitida desde hace miles de años y aprendí a escuchar la sabiduría del corazón, a conectar con sitios sagrados que sanan, a apreciar y nutrir comunidad. Mi perspectiva y estilo de vida cambiaron de manera profunda y significativa.

Fuí iniciado como Mara'akame en 2007. Desde entonces he estado dedicado al trabajo con pacientes y con grupos comunitarios y al contínuo entrenamiento con Don David Wiley. Bajo su guía, también me entrené como Guardián del Fuego, un compromiso de por vida de servir a mi comunidad facilitando el redescubrimiento del Fuego como apoyo y guía para nuestra existencia humana. Este trabajo ha enriquecido y nutrido mi práctica de sanación a través del servicio a los demás.

Me siento agradecido y bendecido por haber encontrado mi camino en esta vida y mi aspiración es poder ser de ayuda en este tiempo de tanta necesidad espiritual.
